Forgiving your parents is like admitting there is hidden dirt hiding in your kitchen and it takes guts, bravery, and honesty to open that kitchen and clean the mess. We were not taught to forgive parents because we have been told that our parents are always right. In our young minds, we grew up trying to imitate what our parents have been doing. We walked into adulthood thinking that in order for us to feel loved and accepted by others, we needed to be like our parents because as they say, “Our parents knew better than us”. They have lived far longer than us, and we must “listen” to them at all costs.
